The Under 11 Terriers side had their first outing of the season on Monday (16th May) as they made the trip to face a strong Sudbury side.

Fielding first in glorious early evening sunshine Braintree came up against the talented Jack Batch who struck his 16 in 4 impressive boundaries to get Sudbury off to a flying start. Despite this Sudbury never really got away as the Braintree bowlers kept the scoring rate under control but were unable to take many wickets as the Sudbury batters dug in but the last pair of Ron Batch and Reggie Cast added a valuable 19 runs at the end to give the Mini Dolphins a challenging 258 to win

Skipper Will Sherry and Joe Chaplin opened up for Braintree and made a bright start with both of them playing some lovely shots. Despite the loss of 2 wickets they managed 14 runs in their allotted 4 overs and kept the boys up with the rate. Any thoughts of a win were unfortunately banished by some excellent bowling from Arthur Wheeler and Katie Logan who bowled with superb accuracy and took 7 wickets between them before Ron batch took wickets in an over (emulating our own Sam Lincoln achieved the same feet in last years fixture).

A defeat, yes, but what spirit the boys showed throughout. At no point did their heads drop and they worked their socks off for the whole game - a credit to the club
