The U15's took on neighbours Coggeshall in a game featuring 2 unbeaten sides for the season. Braintree welcomed Thomas Mellon and Harry Whitwood back into the side after school commitments but were without 'keeper Harry Root so skipper Adam Westall took the gloves.

Having lost the toss Braintree were asked to field on a flat looking deck and Coggeshall openers Fynn Morton and Callum Stott started positively punishing anything off line with Stott in particular scoring at a good pace from the start. Braintree bowled sent down some great deliveries but with no luck and good batting from the opposition struggled to make a break through.

​

Both Coggeshall openers reached 50 and were retired, Stott got their first from 49 balls and Morton took just 2 more balls to get to his. Between those 2 retirements Scott Vine produced a bright spot for Braintree as he clean bowled Joseph Humphrey for 9 but Coggeshall set a challenging 161 for Braintree to chase.

Humphrey then delivered a hammer blow to Braintree as he drew a fine tickle from Adam Westall which was comfortably pouched by Joey Blackwell and Braintree were 0-1 in the first over.

Toby Adcock joined Abdul Kamran and looked fluent from the off but Kamran found scoring difficult against a tight Coggeshall attack. The pair had put on 32 before Kamran was bowled by Guy Peters but with 10 overs passed victory was now going to be a tough ask. The introduction of Callum Lazarus injected some pace into the innings while Adcock was starting to score freely at the other end.

Lazarus found the hands of Fynn Morton in the covers for 7 which brought Thomas Mellon to the crease and he a Toby Adcock put together an unbeaten stand of 51 in 5.2 overs, both players playing some excellent shots and striking the ball very cleanly.

Adcock finished with a fine 40 not out and Mellon 20 not out as the boys finished the innings a high with some positives to take into the next match at Witham June 13th
