U13 v Colchester & EE (A)
Braintree's U13's came within a whisker of causing a huge upset as they came up just 7 runs short of victory at Col;chester and East Essex.
The young Braintree side we on the wrong end of another 50+ opening stand but fought back magnificently to restrict their opponents to just 111 thanks to some excellent bowling and fielding.
It was Tor Hornett that broke the opening pair of Riley Robb and Maxi Brozier as he clean bowled Robb for 20 and then the next ball pull off a direct hit run out to remove Pearce for 0. Brozier then had his timber demolished by Theo Sherry and the Braintree young guns were starting to get on top of the game. Morton Morley was well caught by Theo Sherry in the deep to give Luke Huckson a wicket before he repeated the feat to give his brother Will the wicket of Belshaw for 12. With Harry may being run by Theo Sherry for 2 the inning petered out and the Dolphins had a target to chase.
Theo Sherry and Jo Chaplin opened the batting for Braintree and guided them to 20 before Chaplin was bowled by Riley Robb for 1. That started a mini collapse as Will Sherry and Luke Huckson departed quickly with neither of them troubling the scorers. Sherry T just needed someone to stick with him and he found and partner in Lucas Hale who gritted it out while Sherry started to tick at the other end. The pair of them played some lovely drives and pulls but with 12 needed from 12 balls, and the partnership at 67, Sherry was caught at mid on by Pearce for an excellent 38. With the pressure now on his shoulders Hale looked to strike out and he too found safe hands at mis on, this time belonging to Paris as he went for 12. As hard as they tried the remaining batters couldn't quite get Braintree over the line but another great performance from the lads
