Calley Foyster was the pick of the Braintree bowlers taking 1-22 from 8 overs

Braintree suffered their 2nd defeat of the season at the hands of bottom placed Copdock & OI's in what was a disappointing day for the club. With availability low Braintree needed their top order to fire and having won the toss they got their opportunity straight away. They made a positive start with Dave Hale finding the boundary with ease early on but disaster struck as both openers departed within 9 balls with the score on 25. Firstly, Nick Lockhart looked to cut a ball that was fraction too close to him and he was taken at first slip off the bowling of Kemp for 6 and the Hale was trapped in front by Sajnani for 17. Shortly after Jerry Hollingsworth had his timber disturbed by Kemp for 4 and Gowers his, by young off spinner Jack Calder, for 1. Major Singh, making his comeback for the club, started positively before he top edged a full toss from Patil to give keeper Oliver Lewis a simple catch.
At 51-5 Braintree were in trouble but young Callum Lazarus joined veteran Jamie Foyster and the pair began to build a total for the Dolphins. Once settled at the crease, Lazarus began to take the attack to the bowlers and struck 8 fours and a six in an excellent 43 from 61 balls before he became the 1st of 4 victims for leg spinner Freddie Skinner. An excellent stand of 63 clawing Braintree back into the game. The father and daughter pairing of Callley and Jamie Foyster then put on 37 for the 7th wicket before Jamie, looking to press on was caught behind off of the returning Stanley Kemp for 56. That signaled a collapse as the final 4 wickets fell for just 5 runs to leave 156 for Copdock to chase.

Things could no have started better for Braintree as Andy Gowers had Dines edging to Dave Hale at second slip in the first over before Lazarus induced a top edge from Menzies in the 2nd, hale again taking the catch to leave Copdock 8-2.

Jack Calder and Santosh Sajnani steadied the ship however and put on 64 for the 3rd wicket to ease the Copdock nerves. Calder happy to play a supporting role while skipper Sajnani looked to be the aggressor. It was the leg spin of Calley Foyster that broke the partnership as she tempted Sajnani to driver aerially and Callum Lazarus accepted the chance. Shortly after Major Singh got through the defenses of Barney Messer and bowled him for 12 to leave the core precariously balanced at 91-4 but that would be the last of the wickets as Oliver Lewis made 43 at almost a run a ball to contrast the 126 ball 39 not out from Jack Calder at the other end,
