This week the Second XI travelled to the not so far Copford, where rainfall the previous night had left a damp and definitely field first pitch- with skipper Andrew Gowers winning the toss and doing so. Youngster Theo Sherry opened the bowling for the dolphins, with Dan King opening at the other end once again. It didn't take King long to work his magic, trapping Soteriou in front of the stumps for a ten-ball duck. Almost 20 overs later, captain Gowers took the next wicket for Braintree, getting the other opener Finley Owen for 4 from 57 balls, leaving the home team 22-2. Andrew Sherry then struck next for the visitors, bowling Vinter after he and Gowers urged the fielders into position to get one more over in before drinks. Leg spinner Toby Adcock then joined the attack, and bowling as if the ball were on a string, took the next four wickets for the dolphins (his second 4fer in 6 days). Not long after, Joe Osborne bowled Mallinson at the other end, leaving Copford 62-8. The openers then returned in order to get all 5 bowling points for Braintree, with Theo Sherry finally getting a wicket for his work, finishing his 9 overs with figures of 1-81 King then bowled the number 11 Humm, who puzzlingly left a straight one. Copford were all out for 81 in 42.5 overs.

Geoff Eveling and Dave Hale again took to the crease looking for a solid start and after 14.5 overs, both walked back to the pavilion not out, Eveling finishing on 38 from 48 balls, Hale with 30 from 44, hitting ten fours between them. After a long yet enjoyable fielding innings the dolphins comfortably reached the target with the bat, seizing all 20 points to take back with them to St Peter's Road.
