U12 v Chappel & Wakes Colne (A)
An excellent 43 from 44 balls for Tyler Dyer gave Braintree the platform to make their highest score of the season
An excellent 22 from make shift opener Bertie Burnside
George Wedge too 2-6 as Braintree's bowlers proved too strong
Braintree's U12's finally got the victory their performances have deserved with a convincing 50 run win away at Chappel
Having been put into bat on a wet wicket Braintree started positively with Lucas Hale and Bertie Burnside putting on 23 before Hale was bowled for 7. Burnside was joined by Tyler Dyer and the pair continued to punish the Chappel bowling with a mix of aggressive stroke play and excellent running. They had put on 36 by the time Burnside was bowled for an excellent 22. Braintree's batsmen continued to go for their shots but inevitably wickets would fall towards the end. Danny Orr was unlucky to be run out for 8 and both Corbyn Macleod and Oliver Neal were bowled for 2 and 1 respectively. All eyes were on Tyler dyer to see if could get to his 50 but he fell just short as he was caught at mid-on for a fantastic 43 from just 44 balls. as Braintree ended on 140-6 from their allotted 20 overs.
Chappel never really threatened the score at any point but an excellent 43 from 56 balls from their skipper, George Danby, was the highlight of the chase. For Braintree, Adam Wedge and Reuben Peacock had their first bowls for the U12's and both had figures of 0-4 from 2 overs which was great to see. George Wedge was the pick in terms of figures as he picked up 2-6 Whilst Burnside, Hale and Orr all picked up 1 wicket a piece.
One more league game to go for the Dolphins U12s. Home to Great Totham on Monday 12th August
