On Friday May 20th 2022 a little bit of history was made at Braintree Cricket Club as Calley Foyster launched the first dedicated women's team in the club's history. Training sessions take place from 19:00 each Friday and will initially be in a soft ball format allowing those over 16, and all abilities to come along and get involved (under 16's are more than welcome to join the junior sides on a Wednesday). The girls have already played in some highly competitive 'friendly' games against the successful under 11 team and made their competitive debut against Dunmow on the 23rd of August

Calley is very excited about this initiative and hopes that it will boost the clubs playing and social calendar.....

"I want to produce the women's team in an effort to get more females involved in the sport I love. I have been at the club since birth and played for them since I was 7. The men are brilliant and they have always been so encouraging, but for people who haven’t grown up with any club, it could be a bit daunting joining a new one, especially for girls looking to join in an all mens cricket team! I want to be able to get more women involved in a positive, encouraging environment where they feel they can be themselves and work hard, have fun and most importantly fall in love with the game that has my heart. I can’t wait for the years to come, seasons to enjoy and team to flourish!"
